District 5 Supervisor Scott Silveira - View In Browser

June 2022
Hello Neighbor,

The election is over and it’s official: I am your District 5 Merced County Supervisor for four more years. Thank you for your support. I realize that I represent each resident in my District; the ones that voted for me and just as importantly, the ones that didn’t. We may not agree on everything, and that’s okay. What is important is that you know I am fighting for District 5 and to get our fair share and we have made some progress.

Roads
The number one phone call I get is regarding roads. Last year, Merced County paved 21.30 miles of road. Out of that total, 12.2 miles in District 5 were paved or 57%. We have a long way to go, but we have a plan and District 5 is getting our fair share.

Jobs
Even during a global pandemic, Merced County estimates 4,900 jobs were created countywide. District 5 added 1,097 jobs last year, or 23%.

Public Safety
Public safety remains a top priority. Through a collaborated effort, Sheriff Vern Warnke was able to add 83 new officers. By providing the equipment and personnel the Sheriff needs, our communities and neighborhoods are safer.

We have a long way to go on a number of issues including parks, capital improvement projects, and economic growth. We have made progress these last four years and still have some heavy lifting to do. Your support makes all the difference. Thank you to those individuals that supported the County’s effort to secure property in Santa Nella so they at last could have a park. And also, to the many Dos Palos residents that alerted me to the current condition of our parks and other county facilities. I agree with these individuals, the current conditions are unacceptable. Working with our new County CEO, we are coming up with a plan to address deferred maintenance as well as much needed facilities/equipment replacement. Stay tuned for future meetings and updates.

To make it easier to meet with me, I hold Coffee Talks events regularly, throughout District 5.  These events are posted on social media channels as well as emailed to those that signed up for updates.
If you have questions or I can be of service please call me at (209)385-7366, or send me an email at Scott.Silveira@CountyofMerced.com.
